Hey All - Great meeting tonight. We were joined by Ed Klein and Jody Coss from Freeport. Stephenson County and northern Winnebago are both in the 45th state senate district and the 90th state house district. As far as we know, there are no Democrats running for those spots. Stephenson Co Dems are focused on flipping CB seats and have Northwest Illinois Building Trades help in that effort. Kathy reported on the final petition notarizing weekend coming up this weekend. Winn Dems will have a notary in the side room at District on State Street Saturday. Nate reported on his attendance at the Rockton Village meeting and the Rockton Township meeting. Rockton passed an ordinance giving them more control over TIF districts. We all agreed we need to understand TIF districts better. Rockton Township is trying to remodel their community center. I reported on Roscoe Township's delay in bids on the community center resulting from none of the pole building manufacturers wanting to bid on the materials without being able to build the building. So the architect had to rework the plans foe traditional construction. The bid opening will be March 9th. We'll have a timeline for construction that day too. We discussed the $50,000 ARP money per district each county board member is being given for economic development in their district (see attached). RTHS may request some of these funds for the Cross Homestead/Roscoe Museum. We discussed the newsletter. Kathy suggested a TIF explainer article. All agreed that would be valuable. Nate can do the graphics. Greg and I volunteered to write. Please post content ideas in this discussion group and we will discuss at next meeting on 3/24. Next meeting will be in person. Possible location - Roscoe library. I'll call to reserve. For anyone who was there, fell free to share things I missed that others should know. Thanks!
